A total of 25 terrorist family members have surrendered to Nigerian troops in separate incidents in Borno State, amid intensified military operations against terrorist groups in the North-East.
At about 3:45 p.m. on Aug. 30, four terrorist family members surrendered to troops of 3 Battalion (Marine) at Combat Outpost Ladari.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the individuals came from Arianna, Koloram Yerwa Kura and Tumbuma communities in Marte Local Government Area of Borno State.
The surrendered persons are currently in the custody of 24 Military Intelligence Regiment for further investigation and necessary action.
In a related development, at about 2 p.m. on Sept. 2, another group of terrorist family members comprising seven women and 14 children surrendered to troops of 112 Task Force Battalion at Mafa in Dikwa Local Government Area of the state.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the group fled the Yaganari terrorist enclave due to ongoing clashes between rival terrorist factions.
The latest surrenders highlight the impact of sustained military pressure and internal divisions within terrorist groups operating across the North-East, while security agencies continue to process surrendered persons in line with established procedures.
