Amotekun officer abducted by armed bandits in Oyo

A member of the Amotekun Corps had been abducted by suspected armed bandits in Budo Alhaji village, Orelope Local Government Area of the state.
Zagazola learnt that the victim, identified as Rabiu Akeem, was kidnapped on July 14 at about 5:30 p.m. while in the forest along Ighoho–Igbope–Igbeti road.
He was among three armed Amotekun officers deployed to the area who had entered the forest to fetch firewood when they were suddenly surrounded by armed men.
The Commander of Amotekun in Orelope LGA, identified simply as Taofeeq, alongside another officer, Ogunikojo Ojekunle Lekan, reported the incident to the Ighoho Division at about 10:53 p.m.
On receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer in Ighoho swiftly mobilised a combined team of police operatives, Amotekun personnel, local vigilantes, and hunters to the scene.
A search-and-rescue operation was immediately launched with extensive bush combing to locate the victim and apprehend the perpetrators.
The Command assured that investigation is ongoing and all efforts are being made to ensure the safe return of the abducted officer and bring the culprits to justice.
