Army neutralizes top IPOB commander in Ebonyi, destroys shrine in Imo

Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralized a wanted IPOB/ESN commander identified as Alhajiduring an operation in Ezza-Eyimaggu, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

 

According to military sources, the operation was conducted by troops of Sector 2, Operation UDO KA, following credible intelligence on the suspect’s location.

 

The source said the commander attempted to disarm a soldier during his arrest, leading to a brief scuffle in which he was neutralized.

 

In a related development, troops of 34 Artillery Brigade on patrol in Mbaotoli Local Government Area of Imo State discovered and destroyed an IPOB/ESN shrine reportedly used for criminal indoctrination and initiation of new members.

 

Security authorities said the operations were part of ongoing efforts to dismantle IPOB/ESN’s terror network in the South East and restore peace to the region.
