Bandits attack national park service office in oyo, kill five forest guards

No fewer than five forest guards of the National Park Service have been killed following an attack on the service’s office in Oloka area of Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State by suspected bandits.
The attack, which occurred on Tuesday, targeted the National Park Service office located within the forest axis of the community.
Confirming the incident the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adewale Ayanlade, said the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Femi Haruna, was leading other security chiefs to the area to assess the situation.
Ayanlade said the commissioner had ordered the immediate deployment of tactical teams to the affected area to forestall further attacks and restore normalcy.
“The Commissioner of Police has directed the immediate deployment of tactical teams, including officers of the Mobile Police Force and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, to the area,” he said.
He assured members of the public that security agencies were on top of the situation and working collaboratively to address the threat.
The police spokesperson promised to provide further updates as investigations and security operations continued in the area.
