The Nigerian Army has successfully conducted the second Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Welfare Flight for July 2026, facilitating the movement of 344 military personnel into and out of the North-East Theatre of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK).

Military sources told Zagazola Makama that the welfare flight was carried out on July 16 using a chartered ValueJet aircraft as part of the Army’s personnel welfare initiative aimed at easing troop rotations and improving the wellbeing of officers and soldiers deployed in the theatre.

According to the sources, a total of 170 personnel were airlifted into the OPHK Theatre, while 174 personnel were transported out of the theatre.

The movement was completed without any incident, with all passengers safely arriving at their respective destinations.

The latest operation brings the cumulative number of personnel moved into and out of the Operation HADIN KAI Theatre under the COAS Welfare Flight programme to 34,114.

The COAS Welfare Flight initiative remains one of the Nigerian Army’s key welfare programmes designed to support troop morale by providing safe and efficient transportation for personnel deployed in counter-insurgency operations across the North-East.
