CP meets tactical teams, others ahead of ECOWAS at 50 celebration in Lagos

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, on Wednesday convened a high-level security meeting with heads of tactical units and departmental commanders ahead of the ECOWAS at 50 commemorative ceremony scheduled to hold in Lagos on May 28.
Zagazola Makama understands that the meeting, which held at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations (DOPS), Area Commanders, Squadron Commanders, Tactical Teams Commanders and Heads of Departments.
The commemorative event will take place at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) and Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island.
The event will be attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and other dignitaries including eleven heads of state and government from ECOWAS member nations.
Also expected at the ceremony are Nigeria’s former Presidents Gen. Yakubu Gowon, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, and Dr. Goodluck Jonathan alongside sitting governors, ministers and the President of the ECOWAS Commission.
Addressing the meeting, the Commissioner of Police emphasized the need for professionalism, coordination and vigilance throughout the period of the event to ensure a seamless experience for all participants and visiting dignitaries.
He urged all officers to be alive to their responsibilities and contribute effectively to the Command’s operational plan to safeguard the venue, routes and hotels hosting dignitaries.
The strategic meeting lasted for several hours and ended at about 3 p.m.
