Four cattle killed, 17 injured in Mwaghavul Militia  attack in Plateau

Four cattle were killed while 17 others sustained injuries when Mwaghavul Militia men attacked a Fulani cattle harbour site at Kantoma Community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident occurred at about 3:35 a.m. on Sunday, September 20, according to security sources.

Troops of Sector 8, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), responded to a report of the attack and moved to the affected location.

Upon arrival, the troops discovered four cattle that had been shot dead, while 17 others were found with varying degrees of injuries.

Security personnel also recovered 11 rounds of 7.62×51mm NATO ammunition, 122 empty cases of 7.62×39mm ammunition and one locally fabricated sword at the scene.

Following the attack, troops commenced clearance operations and a manhunt for the assailants around Jwak Maitumbi and adjoining communities.

The operation is aimed at tracking down the perpetrators and preventing further attacks or any possible breakdown of law and order in the area.

Security agencies have continued to maintain heightened surveillance across vulnerable communities in Mangu and other parts of Plateau State.
