Unconfirmed report from intelligence sources indicate that heavy rainfall has led to severe flooding in a suspected terrorist enclave in the Tumbuns area around the Lake Chad shores.

The enclave is reportedly linked to a faction led by Boko Haram Leader Bakura Doro, also known as Abu Umaimata or Abu Umayma.

According to the sources, the flooding, which followed days of intense rainfall, submerged parts of the settlement believed to be used by the group as a hideout.

The development was said to have disrupted the activities of the fighters, with reports claiming that makeshift shelters were destroyed and some logistics items, including motorcycles and other equipment, were swept away by the rising waters.

Some sources also claimed that casualties may have occurred as a result of the flooding, including women and children believed to be within the enclave. However, these claims could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report.

It was further gathered that the affected area, located within the difficult terrain of the Tumbuns along the Lake Chad basin, is often prone to seasonal flooding during periods of heavy rainfall.
