Hunters allegedly kill IDP in Zamfara, police begin investigation

The Zamfara Police Command has commenced investigation into the alleged killing of a 52-year-old internally displaced person (IDP) by a group of local hunters in Moriki area of the state.
Police sources said the incident occurred on March 12 at about 5:00 a.m. in the Bakin Gulbi Hutsaye area of Moriki.
According to a source in Moriki, the victim, identified as Abdullahi Idris, was attacked by a group of local hunters operating under the codename “Asset”.
The sources said the hunters allegedly shot the victim dead and buried his corpse.
Upon receiving the report, the DPO, accompanied by relatives of the deceased, visited the scene. The corpse was photographed and subsequently removed to a hospital for post-mortem examination.
After the procedure, the remains were released to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
Police said investigations were ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those responsible.
