Katsina police foil kidnap, rescue victim, one killed in attack

The Katsina State Police Command on Wednesday reported that a foiled kidnap attempt in Gidan Gyada Village, Kafur LGA, left one person dead and three others injured.
According to the police, at about 0020hrs on the same day, suspected armed bandits entered the village and abducted Kabiru Sani, aged 30, of Gidan Bako Village.
The DPO Kafur promptly mobilised joint patrol teams who engaged the assailants in a gunfire exchange, forcing them to abandon the victim and flee.
During the attack, three villagers Abdulbasiru Umar, 40; Abdulkarim Shaibu, 35; and Ibrahim Saidu, 30 sustained gunshot injuries. Umar later died while receiving treatment at the General Hospital Kafur, while the other two were admitted for medical attention.
Efforts are ongoing to track and arrest the fleeing perpetrators.
