NAF Launches Search and Rescue After ATR-42 Aircraft Accident in Ondo

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has activated an immediate Search and Rescue operation following an aircraft accident involving an ATR-42 in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State.
The accident occurred on Monday, October 5, 2026, while the aircraft was conducting a routine mission from Benin to Lagos.
In a statement signed by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Force said Search and Rescue operations were ongoing in coordination with relevant authorities and emergency response agencies.
“The Nigerian Air Force is committed to ensuring the success of the ongoing Search and Rescue efforts,” the statement said.
The NAF did not provide further details on the circumstances of the accident or the condition of those onboard.
It said further details would be communicated as the Search and Rescue operation progresses.
