Police arrest 17 suspected cultists over deadly clash in Delta

The Nigerian Police in Delta under Zone 5, Benin, has arrested 17 suspected cult members linked to a violent clash between rival groups Supreme Vikings and Eiye Confraternity which led to the death of two persons in Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local Government Area.
It was gathered that the raid followed credible intelligence about the cult confrontation that resulted in the deaths of two young men, identified only as Middle (m) and Edmund (m), both alleged members of the rival cult groups.
The operation led to the arrest of 17 male suspects. Those apprehended include:Festus Amechie, Ifechukwu James, Ovilie Harrison, Nedum James, Prince Okpu, Ossaikings, Nsukwa Ogonomie, Destiny Teddy, Ojuma Destiny, Marvelous Omaodu, Chukwudi Peters, Okporu Chukwunedum, Musa Bello, Godspower Ugboko, Oghenero Sunday, and God Day Okporu .
A locally made pistol and one live cartridge were recovered from God Day Okporu, a confessed member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, who also admitted escaping from police custody in 2024.
Further recoveries include a black bag containing one Techno phone, one iPhone, two Itel phones, four chargers, two scissors, one Fidelity ATM card, one eyeglass, two charms, a bunch of keys, and one wristwatch items reportedly robbed from one Adewale Paul and others on April 29, by suspects Musa Bello, Chukwudi Peters, and Godspower Ugboko of the Eiye Confraternity.
The police confirmed that all suspects are currently in custody and that investigations are ongoing to uncover additional networks and prosecute those involved.
