Police Arrest Three Suspects, Recover Locally Made Pistol in Plateau

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested three suspects and recovered a locally made pistol following a security operation in Jos North Local Government Area of the state.
Police sources said the suspects were intercepted at about 1645 hours on June 22 by personnel attached to the Gada-Biu Police Outstation.
The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Alhassan, 27, Kingsley Kadinan Deban and one Johnson, whose surname was yet to be ascertained, were reportedly travelling on a Bajaj motorcycle from the Rukuba Road area of Jos towards Gada-Biu.
According to the police, the suspects allegedly fired a shot into the air upon reaching the vicinity of the Gada-Biu Catholic Church.
The gunshot attracted the attention of security personnel, who immediately pursued and apprehended the trio.
A search conducted after their arrest led to the recovery of a locally made pistol and the Bajaj motorcycle used by the suspects.
Police authorities said the suspects were in custody and investigations had commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The command added that efforts were ongoing to identify and arrest other suspected members of the group and recover additional weapons.
Police further stated that the security situation across the state remained calm and under control.
