Police inspector killed by unknown gunmen in Makurdi, Benue

One Inspector Otor Ejiga, posted to Mega IDP Camp along Gbajimba Road in Makurdi, Benue State, was shot dead by unknown gunmen on Thursday evening while manning an illegal lone roadblock near the camp.
The assailants reportedly took away the officer’s Type O6 rifle following the attack.
The body of the officer was retrieved by a patrol team and deposited at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Sources said that authorities have launched efforts to track the suspects and recover the stolen weapon.
Zagazola learnt also that a comprehensive investigation has been ordered, and the supervising officer has been issued a query for alleged lapses in supervision.
