Police Rescue Three Abducted Victims in Zamfara Forest

Security operatives in Zamfara State have rescued three abducted persons who were found wandering in a forest in Maru Local Government Area of the state after escaping from their captors.
Police sources said the victims were intercepted on May 31 by joint operatives comprising 42 Police Mobile Force (PMF) motorcycle riders, other tactical teams of the command, and members of civil society groups during a coordinated search operation in Bingi Forest.
The rescued persons were identified as Yusuf Ibrahim, 15; Basiru Yusuf, 17; and Mubarak Ibrahim, 18, all males.
Preliminary debriefing revealed that the victims were abducted in February 2026 from Marbe Village via Kwaren Ganuwa District of Tsafe Local Government Area.
They reportedly escaped from the custody of their abductors and wandered into the forest before being discovered by security operatives.
The victims were taken for medical attention at a government hospital, where they were treated and discharged.
Following their recovery, the victims were handed over to the Chairman of Maru Local Government Area, Hon. Muhammad Bello Jabaka, who is expected to facilitate their reunification with their families.
Security authorities said efforts were ongoing to track down the abductors and dismantle criminal hideouts within the region.
