Seven injured as NRC suspends Abuja–Kaduna’s train service after derailment

Seven passengers sustained injuries on Tuesday when an Abuja–Kaduna bound train derailed in Kaduna, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed.
The NRC said there were 618 passengers on board the train at the time of the incident. It added that the injured passengers were given medical attention, while the remaining passengers were safely evacuated to Idu and Kubwa stations by a rescue train.
Following the derailment, the Corporation announced the temporary suspension of Abuja–Kaduna Train Services (AKTS) pending investigation into the cause of the incident.
It also directed its third-party ticketing agency to promptly process refunds for all passengers affected by the disrupted journey.
The NRC assured of its commitment to passenger safety and expressed sympathy for those injured.
