Six Injured as Suspected Political Thugs Attack Motor Parks in Osun

No fewer than six persons sustained injuries following attacks by suspected political thugs on motor parks and surrounding areas in Ede, Osun State.
Police sources said the incident occurred on June 9 when armed hoodlums, suspected to be political thugs, arrived in vehicles and launched attacks on several locations within Ede.
According to the sources, the attackers stormed Aisu Motor Park, Akoda Motor Park and Sekona Motor Park, all located along the Gbongan-Osogbo Expressway, and opened fire indiscriminately.
“The hoodlums shot sporadically at the affected locations, causing panic among residents, commuters and commercial transport operators,” the source said.
The sources disclosed that five persons sustained various injuries during the attacks.
The victims were identified as Akinleye Nasiru, Taofeek Ige, Lawal Akindele, Yakubu Idris and Kamoru Ojubanire.
According to the police, four of the victims suffered gunshot wounds to their legs and thighs, while another sustained machete injuries during the violence.
The injured persons were immediately evacuated to the Cottage Hospital, Ede, where they are receiving treatment.
The sources further disclosed that the same group of attackers later moved to the Owode Ede axis, where a 70-year-old man, Lasisi Salami, was shot in the back.
Salami was rushed to the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, for medical attention and is currently receiving treatment.
Police authorities said senior officers, including the Commissioner of Police in charge of operations and other personnel, visited the scenes of the incidents and the hospitals where the victims were admitted.
Photographs and other relevant evidence were obtained as part of ongoing investigations.
The authorities added that efforts had been intensified to identify, track and arrest the perpetrators responsible for the attacks.
Police reassured residents of their commitment to maintaining law and order and urged members of the public to provide useful information that could assist in the apprehension of the suspects.
Investigations into the incidents are ongoing.
