The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Maj.-Gen. B.P. Koughna, has conducted an operational visit to key military locations in Sokoto and Kebbi States to assess troop readiness and ongoing infrastructure projects.

Security sources said the visit, carried out on April 3, covered the Katami Outpost project site and Forward Operating Base (FOB) Silame in Sokoto State.

During the inspection, the GOC assessed troop preparedness and operational capacity to respond to potential threats in the area of responsibility.

He urged troops to remain disciplined, professional, and committed to their duties at all times, noting that operational effectiveness remained critical to sustaining security in the region.

The GOC also inspected sections of the Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway project, where he encouraged road construction workers to remain focused on their assignments while assuring them of adequate security cover provided by troops.

He further proceeded to FOB Lagga in Kebbi State, where he interacted with construction workers to understand their challenges and identify areas where military support could be enhanced.

The visit, which military authorities described as part of routine operational oversight, was conducted without incident.
