Soldier Wounded as Troops Repel Terrorist Attack Along Akwanga–Jos Road in Nasarawa

Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) responded to a terrorist attack on commuters and residents along the Akwanga–Jos Road in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, leaving a soldier wounded during the incident.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the attack occurred at about 10:00 p.m. on July 21, prompting troops of Sector 2, Operation WHIRL STROKE, deployed at Doka to swiftly mobilise to the scene following reports that armed terrorists had attacked civilians along the highway.
During the response, a soldier of the 222 Battalion, who was on pass at the time of the incident, was shot in both legs by the attackers.
The wounded soldier was immediately evacuated to a medical facility, where he is receiving treatment.
Military sources said troops responded promptly to the attack to prevent further casualties and restore security along the route, while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing attackers.
The incident highlights the continued security challenges along some highways in the North-Central region, with security forces sustaining offensive operations to deny criminal elements freedom of action and protect local communities.
