Sporadic gunfire sparks panic near Kantoma boundary in Plateau

Sporadic gunfire near the Kantoma boundary in Plateau State has caused panic among residents, prompting troops to heighten security in the area.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25, when troops of Sector 8, Operation Enduring Peace, deployed at Kantoma responded to reports of sporadic firing in the area.
The gunshots reportedly caused panic among residents in the general area.
The troops moved to the location but were unable to establish contact with the gunmen, who had apparently fled before their arrival.
Neighbouring troops of Sector 4, Operation Enduring Peace, were alerted and provided with information about the incident.
The troops have since been placed on maximum alert to prevent any possible attack and respond promptly to further threats in the area.
