A suspected thief met a brutal end in Adzata Village, Kurudu, Abuja, after being caught by an enraged mob that took justice into their own hands.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that three  incident, which occurred at about 6:50 PM on March 27, 2025, saw the unidentified suspect allegedly enter the village with the intention of stealing. However, before he could escape, residents intercepted him and launched a vicious attack.

Eyewitnesses say the suspect was first spotted moving suspiciously through the village before he was confronted by a group of locals. Accusing him of being a thief, the crowd quickly grew, and the situation escalated into violence.

The mob descended on him with sticks, stones, and other objects, beating him to a stupor.Despite pleas from some individuals for restraint, the majority refused to back down, determined to deal with the suspect themselves.

By the time police operatives from Kurudu Division arrived at the scene, the suspect was barely alive. Officers rushed him to Karu General Hospital, but it was too late he was confirmed dead upon arrival.

The incident has reignited concerns over the increasing cases of mob justice in communities, where frustrated residents take the law into their own hands instead of handing suspects over to the authorities.

While some believe jungle justice deters crime, legal experts warn that such acts lead to wrongful deaths, lawlessness, and embolden vigilante violence.

This latest killing in Kurudu is a grim reminder of the dangers of mob action, as another life has been lost without due process.
