Tricycle rider knocks down student in Nasarawa, victim dies in hospital

A student of the Federal University, Lafia, has died after being knocked down by a tricycle rider near the institution’s campus.

 

Sources said that the accident occurred at about 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 13.

 

According to the sources, the rider, identified as Fedelis Zakka of Agyarangu Tasha in Obi Local Government Area, was conveying female passengers from Kayarda, Obi LGA, to the university’s gate when he hit the victim, Ifeoma Blessings Nweke.

 

Police said Nweke was attempting to cross the road with friends near the campus speed bumps when the incident occurred.

 

She was taken to the Federal University Lafia Clinic and later referred to the National Hospital, Abuja, where she died while receiving treatment.

 

The tricycle rider has been arrested, and the vehicle impounded at ‘A’ Division, Lafia, while investigation is ongoing.
