Troops Arrest Four Suspected Drug Peddlers, Recover Cannabis and Weapons in Plateau

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have arrested four suspected drug peddlers during a raid on a suspected drug hideout in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was carried out at about 1:20 a.m. on July 21 by troops of Sector 1 of Operation Enduring Peace at Saya village, following credible intelligence on illicit drug activities in the area.
During the raid, the troops apprehended four suspects believed to be involved in drug trafficking and recovered eight cutlasses, six knives, substances suspected to be cannabis sativa, and other illicit drugs.
The suspects are currently in military custody for preliminary investigation, while the recovered exhibits have been secured.
Military sources said the operation forms part of sustained efforts by Operation Enduring Peace to combat criminality, curb drug trafficking, and dismantle networks fueling violence and insecurity across Plateau State.
The sources added that the suspects will be handed over to the appropriate law enforcement agencies for further investigation and prosecution after the conclusion of preliminary military procedures.
