Troops Arrest Suspected Cultist, Recover Firearm in Abia

Troops of Sector 4, Operation Crush, under Operation UDO KA, have arrested a suspected cultist and recovered a locally made firearm during an intelligence-led operation in Abia State.

Security sources said the suspect was arrested at about 12:35 a.m. on June 12 at Amaekpu Village in Ohafia Local Government Area following credible intelligence.

According to the sources, troops acted on a tip-off and conducted a targeted operation that led to the arrest of the suspect without incident.

Items recovered from the suspect included a locally made pistol loaded with one cartridge, an Abia State Community Policing identification card and a mobile phone.

The sources said the suspect and the recovered exhibits are currently in military custody pending further investigation and possible prosecution.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to combat cult-related activities, criminality and other security threats within the South-East region.

Military authorities reiterated their commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations aimed at maintaining peace and security across the region.
