Troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade (Garrison) Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a suspected informant of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a stop-and-search operation in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Security sources told Zagazola  that the suspect was apprehended at about 1:00 p.m. on June 1 along the Buni Gari–Buni Yadi road axis.

According to the sources, the suspect was intercepted by troops while on routine security patrol and was found to be in possession of injuries believed to have resulted from prior contact with security forces.

The sources said preliminary questioning indicated that the suspect claimed to have relocated from Ganjarma village to a settlement along the Bara road axis, where he had reportedly stayed for about 10 days prior to his arrest.

“A preliminary assessment suggests the suspect may have links with ISWAP/JAS elements operating in the general area, and investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of his involvement,” a security source said.

The suspect is currently in military custody undergoing further interrogation.
