Troops of the 195 Battalion, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have arrested a suspected informant for the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect was apprehended at about 11:30 p.m. on July 14 during an intelligence-led operation in Dusuman Ward.
According to the sources, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly maintained contact with members of the terrorist group and routinely met them at Labe Village in Mafa Local Government Area to share information.
Military sources said the suspect is in custody and is undergoing further interrogation to determine the extent of his alleged involvement in the terrorist network and to identify other collaborators.
The arrest forms part of ongoing intelligence-driven operations by Operation HADIN KAI aimed at dismantling terrorist support networks by targeting informants, collaborators and logistics facilitators operating within communities in the North-East.
