By Zagazola Makama

Troops of Sector 1, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have destroyed a suspected terrorist enclave and arrested five suspects during a fighting patrol in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was conducted at about 11:00 a.m. on Aug. 1, targeting suspected terrorist hideouts in Atombagen, Chito, Tse Kighr, Tse Anaka, and Sabongida Leke.

Although the troops made no contact with the fleeing suspects during the operation, they arrested five individuals at Sabongida Leke over suspected links to criminal activities in the area.

The troops also destroyed the terrorist enclave and several life-support structures believed to have been used by the criminal elements as operational bases.

Military sources said the operation was part of ongoing clearance missions aimed at denying armed groups freedom of movement and dismantling their logistics and support infrastructure across the Benue axis.

The arrested suspects are expected to undergo further investigation.
