Troops of 34 Artillery Brigade, working alongside other security agencies, have disrupted suspected terrorist activities in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.
Security sources said that the operation was part of ongoing offensive actions aimed at denying suspected criminal elements freedom of movement and assembly in the area.
The sources said troops acted on intelligence indicating plans by suspected IPOB/ESN elements to hold a meeting within the Orsu general area.
According to the sources, troops advanced along the Mother Valley–Lilu road to frustrate the planned gathering and encountered suspected elements, who fled following a brief exchange of fire.
They added that during the advance, five improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were detonated along the route, but troops successfully continued the operation without reported casualties.
The sources said clearance operations were ongoing in the general area to further secure the axis and prevent regrouping of suspected criminal elements.
