The Nigerian military has established a new Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Sayaya, Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, as part of ongoing efforts to intensify operations against banditry and facilitate the safe return of displaced residents.

Military sources told Zagazola Makama that the Forward Operating Base was established by Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA following persistent attacks by armed bandits that forced residents to flee the community.

According to the sources, the deployment is aimed at denying terrorists and bandits the use of Sayaya as a staging ground for attacks and a logistics corridor to their enclaves, many of which were destroyed during Operation CLEAN SWEEP III.

The establishment of the base is expected to enhance troop dominance in the area, improve security, and enable sustained offensive operations against criminal elements operating within Sayaya and surrounding communities.

Military authorities expressed optimism that the increased security presence would restore public confidence and create conditions for displaced families to return to their ancestral homes and resume farming and other socio-economic activities.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property across Katsina State and the wider North-West region, stressing that troops would continue aggressive operations to eliminate banditry and other security threats.

The military also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to support ongoing security operations.
