Troops foil cattle rustling attempt, recover 92 cattle in Plateau

Troops under Operation Enduring Peace have foiled an attempted cattle rustling incident and recovered 92 cattle in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 6:00 p.m. on April 12 following a report of an attempt by suspected Irigwe youths to rustle cattle around Kpashio village.
According to the sources, troops of Sector 3 OPEP swiftly responded and pursued the suspects, forcing them to abandon the rustled cattle and flee.
They added that a total of 92 cattle were recovered during the operation.
The sources said the recovered cattle were subsequently handed over to the herders’ youth leaders in the area.
They reiterated that security operations are ongoing to deter criminal activities and ensure peaceful coexistence among communities in Plateau State.
