Troops of Sector 7, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have intervened to prevent a political disturbance at Kafanchan Township in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 5, when troops responded to a report of a political disturbance in the area.

On arrival, the troops found members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) burning brooms, the symbol of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside APC campaign posters in what sources described as a symbolic act.

A Keystone security response team had earlier moved to the location, but the situation reportedly escalated, prompting the troops to intervene immediately to restore normalcy and prevent further escalation.

The troops dispersed the crowd, halted the burning of party symbols and cordoned off the area.

The situation was subsequently brought under control, while security personnel remained on ground to prevent a resurgence of the disturbance.
