Security sources said the incident occurred at about 3:35 p.m. on Oct. 16, 2026, when troops responded to reports of terrorist activity along the route.

The prompt intervention by the troops reportedly forced the suspected terrorists to flee, abandoning their mission.

During the operation, the troops recovered four vehicles abandoned along the road.

The vehicles were subsequently handed over to their respective drivers.

The intervention forms part of ongoing security efforts to counter terrorist activities, protect road users and safeguard communities across Zamfara State.
