Troops kill three terrorists, recover weapons in Zamfara

Troops of the 1 Brigade Quick Reaction Force (QRF) have neutralised three suspected terrorists during a fighting patrol in Zamfara State.
Security sources said the operation was conducted at about 5:30 a.m. on May 7 across parts of Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas.
The sources disclosed that troops made contact with the terrorists at Doumbourum village in Birnin Magaji LGA, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
According to the sources, the troops overpowered the criminals and neutralised three of them during the encounter.
Items recovered from the scene included one AK-47 rifle, one SK 21 A1 machine gun, and one locally fabricated handgun.
Troops also recovered six AK-47 magazines, one FN rifle magazine, 123 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 179 rounds of 12.7 x 108mm linked ammunition, and 269 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition.
The sources said the operation forms part of ongoing offensives aimed at dismantling terrorist enclaves and restoring security across affected communities in Zamfara State.
Military authorities added that troops remained committed to sustaining aggressive patrols and clearance operations against armed groups operating in the North-West.
