Troops Neutralise Four Kidnappers, Rescue Victim in Kwara Ambush Operation

Troops of Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD have neutralised four suspected kidnappers and rescued an abducted victim during a successful ambush operation in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was carried out at about 4:00 a.m. on July 22 by troops of Sector 1 deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Kaiama.
The sources said the troops laid an ambush at a known crossing point along the Jonloji Village riverine axis based on credible intelligence on the movement of suspected kidnappers.
During the operation, the troops engaged the armed criminals, killing four suspected kidnappers in the ensuing firefight.
The troops also rescued one kidnap victim and recovered one pump-action shotgun, four motorcycles and the sum of ₦64,000 believed to be linked to the criminal gang.
The rescued victim was immediately evacuated to the Kaiama General Hospital for medical attention.
Military sources said the operation is part of the ongoing Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD, which is aimed at dismantling kidnapping and other criminal networks operating across Kwara and neighbouring states.
They added that troops remain committed to sustaining offensive operations against criminal elements while ensuring the protection of lives and property across the region.
