Troops, NSCDC Destroy Illegal Bunkering Site in Rivers

Troops of 114 Battalion operating from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Owaza under Operation Operation Udo Ka have discovered and destroyed an illegal bunkering site in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The operation, which was conducted at about 1100 hours on June 21, was carried out in collaboration with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited).
The site, located at Lekuma Abiama community in Oyigbo LGA, was found to contain two small drum pots allegedly used for illegal petroleum product storage and refining activities.
According to a statement, the troops destroyed the facility on site, and the operation was conducted without any incident or resistance.
Authorities said the exercise forms part of ongoing efforts under Operation Udo Ka to curb crude oil theft and other forms of economic sabotage in the Niger Delta region.
