Troops Overrun Terrorist Enclaves in Wulgo Axis, Recover Drugs During Offensive in Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have cleared several Boko Haram enclaves in the Wulgo axis of Borno State after engaging fleeing insurgents during a major offensive operation.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was launched at about 11:00 a.m. on July 4 by troops of the Headquarters, 24 Task Force Brigade, in conjunction with volunteer forces under the leadership of the Brigade Commander.
The fighting force, comprising about 140 soldiers and 50 volunteer personnel, deployed with two Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles, nine gun trucks, five Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) Toyota Hilux vehicles and 10 motorcycles, advanced from the assembly area at the 3 Battalion (Motorised) headquarters toward the Wulgo general area.
According to the sources, the troops conducted coordinated clearance operations on terrorist enclaves located at Wulgo, Hausari, Danbaure and Jegarawaji.
During the advance into Wulgo, the troops encountered resistance from Boko Haram fighters, who engaged the advancing force before being overwhelmed by superior firepower.
The insurgents were forced to retreat in disarray, abandoning a sack containing suspected illicit drugs during their withdrawal.
The troops pursued the fleeing terrorists along their escape routes but discontinued the chase because of difficult terrain, which limited further movement.
The operation continued into Hausari and Danbaure, where the troops found the terrorist camps abandoned. Several life-support structures used by the insurgents were subsequently destroyed in situ to deny them future use.
The force later advanced to Jegarawaji, where no contact was made with terrorists.
Military sources said troops also discovered that the routes leading into Garal and Manawaji were heavily marshy and impassable. As a result, indirect fire missions were executed from Jegarawaji into the suspected terrorist hideouts in both locations.
The troops completed the operation without casualties and returned safely to base at about 7:45 p.m.
Security sources described the offensive as part of sustained clearance operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of movement and dismantling their remaining enclaves in the Lake Chad and border areas.
They added that while the overall security situation across the North-East theatre remains relatively calm, it is still unpredictable, with troops maintaining high morale and operational readiness.
