Troops, Police Raid Kidnappers’ Hideouts in Edo, Arrest Three Suspects

Troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Uromi, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and operatives of the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC), have raided suspected kidnappers’ hideouts in Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State, leading to the arrest of three suspects.
Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 11:10 a.m. on Tuesday following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected kidnappers operating around Ubiaja axis of the state.
According to the sources, the joint security team stormed the hideouts and apprehended three suspects during the raid.
The suspects reportedly confessed during preliminary interrogation to participating in the abduction of a civilian on Jan. 12, 2026, while the victim was working on her farm at Emu community.
“The operation was based on actionable intelligence. During interrogation, the suspects admitted involvement in the earlier kidnapping incident at Emu,” the source said.
The suspects were subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police for further investigation and prosecution.
Security agencies have continued intensified operations across parts of Edo State to dismantle criminal hideouts and curb incidents of kidnapping and violent crimes in rural communities.
