Troops raid suspected drug hideout in Jos, arrest nine suspects

Troops of Sector 1, Operation Enduring Peace have raided a suspected drug hideout in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, arresting nine suspected drug peddlers and recovering suspected illicit substances.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was conducted at about 6:30 p.m. on July 24 at the notorious Congo Russia area of Jos North following intelligence on illicit drug activities.
During the raid, troops apprehended nine suspected drug peddlers and recovered substances suspected to be cannabis sativa as well as other illicit drugs.
The suspects and the recovered exhibits have been taken into military custody pending further investigation and subsequent handover to the appropriate law enforcement agency for prosecution.
Military sources said the raid forms part of sustained operations by Operation Enduring Peace to dismantle criminal networks, curb the proliferation of illicit drugs and improve security across Plateau State.
The sources added that efforts would continue to target drug trafficking hubs believed to fuel violent crimes and other forms of criminality within the Joint Operations Area.
