Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have recovered a locally made rifle after making contact with suspected terrorists during an offensive operation in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The troops of Sector 2, Operation Enduring Peace, deployed in Kukawa, were conducting an operation at about 1:00 p.m. on August 16, 2026, when they encountered the terrorists on the outskirts of Kyaram Village.

According to a military security source, the terrorists fled in disarray after sighting the troops, prompting the soldiers to give chase.

During the pursuit, the troops recovered one locally made rifle which the fleeing terrorists abandoned.

No casualty was recorded during the encounter.

The recovered weapon has been secured in military custody for further action as troops continue offensive operations aimed at denying criminal and terrorist elements freedom of action across the area.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by Operation Enduring Peace to strengthen security and prevent attacks on communities in Plateau State.
