Troops of 17 Brigade have responded to a terrorist attack in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, where two civilians were killed and two others injured.
Security sources told Zagazola that the incident occurred at about 4:15 p.m. on April 25, when troops deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Matazu received a report of terrorist activities at Sayaya village.
On arrival, the troops discovered that the attackers had killed two residents and injured two others before fleeing the scene.
The sources said the troops immediately pursued the fleeing assailants along their withdrawal route and made contact with them.
“Following the encounter, the troops recovered one motorcycle believed to have been used by the attackers, while the criminals escaped with possible injuries,” the sources said.
They added that the injured victims were evacuated to a medical facility for treatment, while troops have intensified operations in the area to track down the perpetrators and prevent further attacks.
