Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF), North East Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have repelled a Boko Haram/ISWAP attack on their location in Borno, neutralising two insurgents.
Sources told Zagazola Makaid the incident occurred at about 12:20 a.m. on Sunday when a large number of terrorists attempted to infiltrate the 3 Battalion (Main) Pump House location.
According to the sources, the troops swiftly engaged the attackers with mortar fire, forcing them to flee after suffering casualties.
“Some of the terrorists were neutralised while several others were believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds, as indicated by the large pool and trail of blood observed along their withdrawal route,” the report stated.
It added that an ambush team from the battalion later conducted a limited exploitation of the area and recovered the bodies of two neutralised terrorists.
The report further confirmed that there were no casualties on the side of the troops.
It added that the general security situation in the area remained calm but unpredictable, while troops’ morale and fighting efficiency were described as satisfactory.
Operation Desert Sanity IV is one of the ongoing clearance operations under Operation Hadin Kai aimed at eliminating the remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in the North East.
