Troops repel terrorist attack in Borno, pursue fleeing insurgents

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled an attack by suspected ISWAP/JAS terrorists in Benisheikh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. on April 16, 2026, when the terrorists launched an assault on troops of Headquarters 29 Task Force Brigade.
According to the sources, the troops engaged the attackers in a firefight, forcing them to retreat in disarray.
The sources added that the troops pursued the fleeing insurgents but did not make further contact.
Security operations remain ongoing to track the fleeing terrorists and prevent further attacks in the area.
