Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued a kidnapped victim and arrested four suspected kidnappers during separate operations in Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State.
Security sources said the first incident occurred at about 10:35 p.m. when troops of 12 Brigade deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Udomi, while on routine patrol in the Ewatto general area, made contact with suspected kidnappers.
The sources disclosed that the suspects fled upon sighting the troops, abandoning their victim who was subsequently rescued and reunited with his family.
According to the sources, in a follow-up operation at about 9:30 a.m., the troops, in collaboration with local vigilantes, acted on intelligence regarding the movement of suspected kidnappers around the Emu Forest.
They added that the joint team successfully apprehended four suspects during the operation.
Items recovered from the suspects include three face masks, a mobile phone, SIM cards, and clothing materials.
The sources further said the arrested suspects and recovered items have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
