Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered N8 million ransom in Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources told Zagazola that the breakthrough followed the earlier kidnapping of one civilian and the killing of another at Bauna village on March 23.
The sources said two suspects were subsequently arrested by troops of Sector 9 OPEP at Zomo Market in connection with the incident.
According to the sources, the suspects’ confession led troops to the location of the abducted victim, who was successfully rescued at about 11:39 a.m. on April 25.
The troops also recovered the sum of N8 million, believed to be ransom earlier paid to the kidnappers, which has been returned to the victim’s family.
The sources added that the suspects are currently in custody for further investigation and possible prosecution, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal network.
