Troops of Sector 1, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), have rescued six kidnapped victims during a coordinated military operation in the Kajuru/Kujama axis of Kaduna State.

Zagazola Makama report that the rescue was carried out on Jan. 5 as part of sustained clearance operations across Chikun, Kajuru, Kachia and Kagarko Local Government Areas, including border communities around Kauru.

The sources said the operations were aimed at degrading the capacity of violent extremists and denying them freedom of action within the Joint Operations Area.

According to the sources, troops of Sub-Sector 5, who were already conducting clearance operations in the Kujeni general area, swiftly responded to a distress alert on the activities of armed criminals around the Kasso adjoining hills.

“On arrival, the troops made contact with the criminals and engaged them with effective suppressive fire, forcing them to flee in disarray into the surrounding forest.

“The area was immediately exploited, leading to the successful rescue of six kidnapped victims,” the sources said.
They added that the rescued victims were handed over to representatives of Kajuru Local Government Area and the Kajuru Emirate Council for onward reunification with their families.
The General Officer Commanding and Commander, Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase, commended the troops for their gallantry and professionalism.
He charged them to remain on maximum alert and sustain the aggressive operational tempo to deny criminal elements freedom of action within the Joint Operations Area.
