Troops rescue three kidnapped victims in Benue

Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have rescued three kidnapped victims following a swift response to a distress call in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.

 

A military source said the incident occurred at about 4:15 p.m. on March 27 at Ayilamo Ayimbe community, where suspected kidnappers had earlier abducted some residents.

 

The source disclosed that troops of Sector 1, deployed at Anyin, mobilised to the area after receiving information on the criminal activity.

 

“On sighting the troops, the kidnappers abandoned their victims and fled into nearby bush,” the source said.

 

He added that three kidnapped victims were successfully rescued during the operation.

 

According to him, the victims were immediately reunited with their families after initial assessment.

 

The source said troops have intensified patrols in the area to track the fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks.
