Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the victims were intercepted at about 8:15 p.m. on Oct. 5, 2026, around the Kuranabasa axis of Gwoza Local Government Area.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the two women had escaped from the Chikede terrorist enclave in the Mandara Mountains before making their way towards the Kuranabasa area.
