Troops of the 82 Division Task Force Battalion have rescued two women who were allegedly abandoned by terrorists in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security sources said the rescue took place at about 3:30 p.m. on July 10 when troops deployed at Ngoshe spotted two women stranded around Agapalawa Hill during a routine patrol.

According to the sources, the troops approached the women cautiously, secured the area and rescued an adult woman and a teenage girl.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims were natives of Chinene and Ngoshe communities in Gwoza Local Government Area.

The sources disclosed that one of the victims had been abducted by terrorists in Kawuri, Konduga Local Government Area, during the 2025 farming season, while the teenage girl was kidnapped during the attack on Ngoshe community on March 3, 2026.

The victims told security personnel that worsening shortages of food and other basic necessities in the terrorists’ camp forced the insurgents to abandon several captives before fleeing the area.

Following the rescue, the victims were handed over to the community head of Ngoshe for reintegration with their families and the community.
