Troops uncover illegal bunkering site, recover 4,550 litres of petroleum products in Rivers

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), have uncovered an illegal bunkering site and recovered 4,550 litres of illegally refined petroleum products in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Security sources said the operation, conducted by troops of CIB VIII with Mobile Strike Team (MST) 2, took place at about 10:00 p.m. on April 7 following credible human intelligence.
According to the sources, the troops moved to the Okolamadi general area where they discovered large quantities of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK).
The recovered products, estimated at 4,550 litres, were handled in accordance with the operational guidelines of Operation Delta Safe.
The sources said the operation was executed without any confrontation.
They added that the effort forms part of ongoing operations to curb crude oil theft, illegal refining, and associated economic sabotage in the Niger Delta region.
