Two Local Vigilantes Killed, Three Injured Fulani Militia in Attack in Plateau

Two local vigilante youths have been killed and three others injured in an attack by suspected Fulani militias in Angwan Sarki village, Mangor District of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 12:10 a.m. on Oct. 5, 2026, when troops of Sector 5, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), responded to a report of an attack on local vigilante youths in the community.

The sources said troops arrived at the scene and discovered the bodies of two victims identified as Japhet Philimon and Nuhu Iliya.

Three other victims sustained gunshot wounds during the attack and were evacuated to the Cottage Hospital in Bokkos for medical treatment.

The attackers had reportedly fled the area before the arrival of the troops.

The troops have commenced offensive operations and a manhunt for the suspected assailants in an effort to apprehend those responsible for the attack.

The latest incident comes amid continued security concerns in parts of Plateau State, where isolated attacks have continued to threaten local communities and security volunteers.
